ANNETTE

At the age of 9, I was set alight with methylated spirits and had third degree burns to 30% of my upper body, including face, upper torso and arms. 

My life would never be the same and the deformities to my face and body meant that I could never live a "normal" life again. Worse still I had to go through my formative teenage years as an outcast and being the centre of denigration and derision by the other children who had no idea of the suffering they were causing me or what I had to put up with both physically and emotionally.

 

Over the years, I underwent over 30 surgical procedures to repair my face and body and only ever wished that I could be loved for who I was on the inside and not be judged for what I looked like.  I carried these feelings of self doubt and low self esteem and fell into the trap of judging myself on other people's standards. 

It was only after I learned the processes of Positive Mindfulness Cognition, that my whole attitude and approach to life changed.  I used these techniques to create a strong and resilient mindset that focussed on finding solutions to challenges and value myself and my unique qualities without being limited by other people's attitudes and the way things appear on the surface.  

 

This mindset provided me with the strength to move up the corporate ladder and become a recognised Author, Goodwill Ambassador, Keynote Speaker and International Inspirational Speaker.

 

As an extra bonus, my relationships and communication skills improved dramatically, resulting in amazing changes in how people around me behave and perform - at work and at home! 

Today, I am on a mission to help burns victims find their own self value and love themselves again!
